iPad Resources

Our school has decided to buy iPads for student use. This was a big decision in many ways because we want to make sure they are actually used for educational purposes instead of as a easy way to sneak an update to your facebook status. (although we block facebook right now).  Here are some links that were being passed around as we did our research.

• This is a decent post talking about many of the concerns involved in rolling out iPads.  Issues such as wireless coverage and training of staff and parents is discussed.
• The Proper Care and Feeding of iPads
• This is a fun little video from a school that issues ipads to its students. For our first pass, we'll probably go with an iPad cart. Though, in the long run we'll probably have some issued to students as well. 
• Apple's iPad For Education Web Site
• Possibly the single best resource for all things iPad in education that I've found so far. 
• Eight Tech Trends for Librarians (and Teachers too!)
• This article talks about tech trends in education and mentions E Books which can be read on an ipad. 
• Palm Beach Florida iPad Resources
• This site is full of all kinds of resources and information
• Project Based Learning In Hand
• I actually found this guy a little annoying. He was more of a salesman than a technologist. I mean, tabs in a iPad browser? Really?!?!?! I think Apple knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they omitted tabs from the IOS version of Safari!  Though, still he has some good tips. 
• Do You Know Where Your School iPads Are?
• This article talks about keeping track of your mobile devices. In the end, it just becomes a sell job for some software called Absolute Software's Computrace product. Though, there's some good advice in there about keeping track of your hardware. 
• Top 10 iPad Tips from Tech & Learning
• There were a few things here I had never seen, like how to do a screen capture. 
• QR Codes In Education?
• So what do you think? Snap a picture with your iPad 2 and have it take you to some related content?

• We thought this might be an interesting thing to use with iPads.

• The only two questions here that were interesting were the ones about Apple Care / Breakage and the ones about filtering. The rest was rather boiler plate.

• This was a well organized page about how one college implemented their iPad rollout.
